Unfortunately a few years ago we noticed that the course conditions had been trending downhill, and the "attitude" quotient from Pro Shop and Rangers was starting to go through the roof - a bad combination. Our annual outing had previously been an all-Stratton affair: we used stay & play packages and looped the Stratton Mountain course on both Saturday and Sunday. I do a Golf weekend in Vermont with a bunch of old friends each fall, and this year we chose to return to the Stratton Mountain Golf Course on Sunday. In any event, we had a great time and can't wait to get back to Stratton to play more golf. The starter should not have allowed that. they were playing very slow as they were rotating five players (two carts). Also, the starter rode out to tell us to be careful about hitting the group in front of us. They are in very bad shape and need to be repaired. One issue that the mountain must address is the golf cart paths. Lake is the second hardest course with a great water hole on the 9th hole. For me, the eighth hole on Forest is the toughest as you need a big shot to get up to the green.
Forest is by far the harder of the three with very narrow fairways and not a lot of forgiving holes. Mountain was still closed but they are working on it. The course was in good shape (recognizing that it is always very wet during the spring months). We just got done with playing 3 rounds (over four days) during Memorial Day weekend. I love the skiing, but once spring comes, i'm always ready for the golf course to open. Full disclosure, we have a house on Stratton Mountain which we use all year round.
